I am Nandana Hewagamage , I started my career in the Department of Wildlife Conservation as a school and village community nature based
training officer in 1990. During my time with the Wildlife Conservation Department I was involved with university research programmes into
wildlife : specifically birdlife, plants and insects etc. I am a member of the Field Ornithology Group of the university of Colombo of Sri Lanka.
Work Experience
In 1999 I started working with Adventure Ecotourism . This involved nature trekking tours , and adventure based tourism (climbing, white water
rafting, canyoning, zip wire). In 2002 I became a qualified national tourist guide and lecturer. I specialize in the handling of birding,
wildlife, wildlife photography and trekking tours. I also handle cultural, and history tours of Sri Lanka.
Having worked for many of the major travel companies, in 2017 I started my own business ,Nature Walk Sri Lanka, specializing in birding,
wildlife , history and culture tours.
