Arrive to the colombo airport and drive to Sigiriya (Three & half hours driving time) Afternoon birding and wildlife safari drive at Minneriya national park. Overnight at Sigiriya.

After breakfast climb Sigiriya rock and afternoon visit to Polonnaruwa ancient city. Sigiriya- a giant rock fortress. Halfway on the rock are the frescoes of the heavenly maidens. A fantastic view of the surrounding area can be had from the top of the rock. Polonnaruwa- medieval capital of the country, 10th century to 11th century AD. There is ancient palace buildings and public halls, shrines, temples and pagodas, sculptures carved in granite. Overnight at Sigiriya.
DAY 03

After breakfast drive to Kandy. En route visit, Dambulla cave temple, Spice garden, and afternoon Tooth relic temple.Overnight at Kandy.
DAY 04

Early morning birding at Udawatta Kale forest and after breakfast drive to Kithulgala. Highlights in Udawatta Kale, Yellow Fronted and Crimson fronted Barbets (E), Sri Lanka Hanging Parrot (E), Layard’s parakeet (E), Brown Capped Babbler (E), Alexandrine Parakeet, Tickell’s Blue Flycatcher, Indian Pitta (M), Indian Blue Robin, Hill Mynah, Brown Fish Owl, Brown Wood Owl, Forest Eagle Owl, Forest Wagtail
Kitulgala- crossing the beautiful Kalani River takes us to high density rain forest. The village is surrounded by forest attracting many species of birds. The river itself is famous for white water rafting. Overnight at Kithulgala.

Yala National Park- situated in dry zone comprising a diversity of habitats including scrub jungles, water reservoirs, brackish lagoons, and riverine habitats. The best park in the country to see Leopards and Sloth Bear.
Highlights- Malabar Pied Hornbill, Ble Faced Malkoha, Brahiminy Mynah (M), Rosy Starling (M), Sirkeer Malkoha, Black Necked, Painted, Woolly Necked and Adjutant Storks. Bundala Ramsar Wetland- borders the sea and comprises of scrub jungle, salt pans. A very good area to watch water birds and migrant waders during the northern winter.
