“A journey through Sri Lanka should be led by someone who knows the land the way a naturalist knows a forest trail — by ear, by season, by years of walking it.”

In 1990, Nandana began his career with Sri Lanka's Department of Wildlife Conservation as a school and village community nature training officer, working alongside university research programmes studying the island's birdlife, plants, and insects. He is a member of the Field Ornithology Group of the University of Colombo. In 1999 he moved into adventure ecotourism — leading trekking tours and adventure-based travel including white-water rafting, canyoning, and zip-lining — before qualifying as a national tourist guide and lecturer in 2002, specializing in birding, wildlife, wildlife photography, and trekking, as well as cultural and historical tours. In 2017, after years guiding for major travel companies, he founded Nature Walks Sri Lanka to offer travelers a dedicated, personalized experience of the island's wildlife and culture.

Guiding rooted in fieldwork, not just hospitality.

Nandana began his career with Sri Lanka's Department of Wildlife Conservation and remains a member of the Field Ornithology Group of the University of Colombo — conservation isn't a footnote to our tours, it's where the guiding started.

Travel Sri Lanka with people who know it.

A good journey is about more than the places you visit. It is about who takes you there, what you notice along the way, and how naturally everything comes together.

  1. 01

    People who know the island

Our guides do more than take you from one place to another. They know the forests, wildlife, birds, seasons and local communities through years of being in the field.

  2. 02

One team, from beginning to end

Your guide, transport, accommodation and daily plans work together as one journey. You are not passed from one company to another.

  3. 03

    Your journey, your way

Some travellers want wildlife from sunrise to sunset. Others want a little wildlife, some culture, time in the mountains and a few quiet days by the sea. We shape the journey around what you want to experience.

Your Sri Lanka starts with a conversation.

Tell us what you would love to see, how you like to travel and how much time you have. We'll help you shape the journey.

No complicated forms. Just a conversation about Sri Lanka.
